"4 days" the Bluefin Tuna

Anne Bernard

This book places the 4-day journey of Bluefin Tuna, from when it is caught in the Atlantic Ocean to when it is sold at the largest fish market in the world in Tsukiji, Japan, in the greater context of borderless phenomenon. In the book's introduction, the author writes, "The migration of Bluefin Tuna, in and out of international and national waters, the overnight shipment of Bluefin Tuna on United Airlines and FedEx flights, certainly makes them a "borderless phenomena." The book follows four themes: science, market economies, Japanese culture, and culture of the bluefin tuna fishermen. The book was written and produced by Anne Bernard, who received Master of Environmental Studies and Master of Environmental Design degrees from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies and the Yale School of Architecture in 1999.
