Heavy Metal Concentrations and Transport Dynamics of Polluted Quinnipiac River Sediments, New Haven, CT

Beth Owen

Beth Owen sampled and analyzed sediment cores from the Quinnipiac River bed near the Fair Haven neighborhood of New Haven. This area, currently undergoing redevelopment by the City of New Haven, has long been occupied by many industrial facilities. Beth's research addressed two components. First, her analyses contributed to the meager analytical data on sediment quality available for the lower Quinnipiac River. Second, her research contributes to the understanding of the relative importance of short and medium-term sediment dynamics in the area.
