Wetland Loss in the Quinnipiac River Estuary: Baseline Assessment

Jennifer Linn

In response to CTDEP concern, a Quinnipiac River tidal marsh research project was funded by the Quinnipiac River Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater New Haven. The goals of this project are to gather baseline data on current marsh conditions as well as to review historic changes in the marsh through analysis of aerial photographs. We hope that achievement of these goals will serve as valuable steps towards determining the cause(s) behind the loss of marsh vegetation. This paper presents information on the context of the Quinnipiac River tidal marshes as well as details of our research methods and results.
