Engineering
Broadly defined, engineers are professionals who utilize their
strong math and science background to develop solutions to
practical problems. The actual job of an engineer will vary
greatly depending on their area of specialization. For example,
an environmental engineer might work to develop an environmentally
sound method of waste disposal and a chemical engineer may
invent a chemical solution to repel moisture on airplanes.
Further definitions for various engineering specialties
can be found below. Civil and Industrial Engineering are also
possible specialization areas. However, because Yale does
not offer majors in either program it is recommended you visit
the listing of Engineering (General)
web resources to learn more about each field.
