Alumni Job Search
For those who have identified their career interests, preparing to find a job involves identifying opportunities and pursuing them. In addition to the newspapers and general job boards, review job postings on company websites and through industry-specific professional associations. Read the publications (online and print) specific to your chosen field(s).
Although reviewing classified ads may seem the obvious way to identify job openings, the hidden job market produces more opportunity if one knows how to tap it. To learn of unadvertised openings, talk with people in your desired career field, attend industry events, and let appropriate colleagues know of your interests.
The job database maintained by UCS includes openings that employers send to us. The openings are primarily for entry-level positions appropriate to new or recent college graduates. Alumni who are registered on our eRecruiting system may access this database.
In addition, there are many third-party resources that may be useful to alumni seeking mid-level positions or higher and to alumni seeking positions in specific industries or geographic areas. Several are listed in the Outside Resources section.
