At the Millennium Summit in September 2000, the largest gathering of world leaders in history committed their nations to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and set out a series of time-bound targets with a deadline of 2015. These targets have become known as the Millennium Development Goals.

International Development Week at Yale 2008 commemorates the midpoint of the MDGs and assesses the world's progress in achieving them. The event brings together students, faculty, development professionals and influential thinkers to discuss practical solutions to alleviate poverty, achieve universal primary education, promote gender equality, and avoid the looming freshwater crisis.

Our generation is the first generation with the technology and capability to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger; all we need is the will to do it. Please join us in our discussions.
