Boxes and Departments
Insufficiently addressed mail is on the increase! Large volumes of insufficiently addressed mail, both campus and US mail, arrive in our mailrooms daily. While much of the mail, though incorrectly addressed, can be hand sorted immediately for the next days delivery, there is an increasing number of pieces with insufficient addresses. This mail slows the entire system, slowing mail for everyone.
What are Common Address Problems?
US Mail -- Post Office box numbers are not used or are used along with a street address. Street addresses should not be used. Use your post office box number and zip code plus add-on on all correspondence! Your US mail address consists of:
Your Name
Department
Yale University
PO Box _ _ _ _ _ _
New Haven, CT 06520- _ _ _ _ |
-- Envelopes arrive with no address, or (in the medical area) the department name is left off. Be sure you are using official Yale University Interoffice Mail envelopes and fill them out completely. Use an up to date directory if you are unsure of the correct address, or check the address online at http//www.yale.edu/search/directories.html and select Yale Phonebook. Campus mail with insufficient addresses is returned to sender. All campus addresses consist of:
Person's Name
Department
Campus Address |
Please call the campus mailroom with any questions regarding proper addressing or visit our web site at http//www.yale.edu/campusmail.
