Vendors
There are many types of belly dance supplies available, in all price ranges. If you're new to the dance and are interested in buying your own hip scarf, costume piece, veil, or other item, make sure that you take a good look at what's out there to get an idea of what colors, styles, and materials you prefer before making your final decision.
In New Haven itself, we know of two stores that carry belly dance costumes and supplies: Casablanca and Group W Bench (to a lesser degree), both on Chapel Street near the architecture building.
We've also had good experiences ordering from online vendors in the past. Here are some of our picks:
- A'Kai Silks - Beautiful, hand-dyed silk veils and costume pieces.
- Belly Dance with K Boutique - Egyptian-made full costumes.
- L. Rose Designs - Simple, elegant dance costumes made to order.
- Moondance - A wide assortment of inexpensive costuming items.
- ShimmyShimmy - Dance supplies of all sorts, primarily Egyptian imports.
- Ebay - Is there anything it can't do?
