Our very first tournament here at Yale =)
At our first tournament, we all had to work hard to make sure everything was organized and ready. Dipankar and Yilong are setting up the nets.
...while Andrew and I risk life and limb to put blinds over the windows! Don't work too hard down there Dipankar. =P
Sometimes it wasn't so easy. Here I am trying to figure stuff out with the Columbia team. Dipankar is helping there too on the left.
All the hard work was worth it, though, as we managed to set up six courts in the Lanman Center. See how nice they look?
And, early Sunday morning, we gathered together six teams eager to compete. Anna isn't quite awake yet, and Chris and John from the Connecticut team look a bit envious; but, trust me, they are overflowing with eagerness on the inside... |
See the intensity on this hungover UPenn team, huddled along their wall in their sleeping bags.
Against the far wall, the Columbia team prepares itself for battle. Menghui and his partner have already started warming up for their first match against the Yale team. |
Once everyone is warm, the matches begin. Mei fights hard in her game against Chris.
At the end of a long day, Yale has made it to the finals against the all-star Connecticut team. Both teams have won 4 matches, so everything rests on this last mixed doubles game.
Dipankar and Bianca fight hard, but in the end are overpowered by the more experienced Connecticut team. No worries - we all had fun, and the tournament was a huge success.
The Columbia teamUnfortunately I don't know them all, but if someone sends me an email with names, I will post them. |
The Connecticut All-StarsFrom left to right, top row: Khine/Jade, Tang, Tin.Bottom row: James, Khine/Jade, Chris, Khine/Jade, Gil, and Ninq. |
