Yale Aviation is reorganizing!  At a general meeting on October 24, the membership approved a plan to recapitalize the club through member contributions and to purchase 32028 and 55044 from CAS Aviation.  With the sale of 16282 and 2FB and recapitalization funds of over $40,000, we have paid our outstanding bills, purchased the two aircraft, renewed the club’s insurance, and built several thousand dollars in reserves. The plan approved by the membership approved allows current members of the club to continue, without a new entry fee, under a new monthly fee($60 per month) and flying hours requirement (1 hour per month, accumulable for up to 12 months).  The structure of membership privileges is as follows:

1)
Those who contributed $1000 or more to recapitalization will be tier-1 members.  Flying privileges will include day-long and overnight privileges on 044.
2)
Current members in good standing continue as tier-2 members and will be able to reserve airplanes for periods up to 4 hours (i.e. no daylong or overnight privileges).
3)
In the future, new members will be able to join tier 1 for an entry fee of $1000 or tier 2 for an entry fee of $400. Tier 2 members may upgrade to tier 1 for an additional $600. Monthly dues of $60 and the requirement of one hour of flying per month will apply.

To complete the reorganization there will be an important General Meeting of the Membership on Thursday, December 13 at 6.30 p.m. at Robinson Aviation. The purpose of the meeting is to elect a slate of directors and officers for the club.  Many important positions need to be filled.

Other Steps in Reorganizing:

The club has arranged for the use of instructors from Robinson Aviation.  In addition, Dave Pecoraro and Jan Cirillo will be available as instructors on a part-time basis.
The club will be moving soon to online scheduling.  You’ll be able to schedule planes and instructors by computer and to schedule over an appointment and be notified if an opening occurs.  More soon on this.
The Yale Aviation website (www.yale.edu/aviation) will be undergoing major renovation, and we will begin recruiting new members soon.
With the permission of the Yale administration, we are moving ahead with an alumni fundraising effort that will enable us to build a club for the future.
We are planning to move toward email communication through a facility that will enable the club to contact you, enable you to contact the whole membership, and enable everyone to search an archive of previous communications.  Please register your email address with the club and get on the email list by going to the URL listed below and following the instructions there to subscribe: http://mailman.cs.yale.edu/mailman/listinfo/yale-aviation

Milestone: In the middle of all this reorganizing, we should salute Avi Silberschatz for getting his ticket – Private Pilot!
