Success
Stories
Anne McPherson
’06, illustrates the effectiveness of the event and WISER’s
amazing potential as not just a fund, but a lifelong network. Anne
described how Renee Edelman ‘77 has been her mentor ever since
they met at last year’s WISER event. Anne subsequently completed
a summer internship and accepted a full-time position at Renee’s
public relations agency. She had great words to say about WISER’s
role in developing this connection:
“Breaking
into the corporate world following a liberal arts education can
sometimes be very difficult and challenging, but Renee has been
extremely helpful in aiding me throughout this transition. The WISER
weekend was a great chance for women athletes to network with alums
and see what opportunities are out there following graduation…
I believe this weekend can help open up a lot of doors for young
talented women who would otherwise not realize that certain opportunities
exist.”
Anne’s
words embody everything the WISER committee envisions.
In addition,
Christine Alford ’07 met Lisa Brummel ’81, a connection
that turned into a summer internship for Christine with Microsoft
Australia. Microsoft was pleased and impressed with her contributions
and will likely open up other internships as a result of this experience.
These are just two of the many great stories evolving from WISER
activities.
