| Why not add a search window to Yale’s main
web page (“yale.edu”)? |
We agree! This popular page now includes
an easy-to-use search feature, thanks to enhancement work by
the University Printer and the Yale ITS Webmaster Team. |
Implemented in April 2004. |
| Why not improve the search engine? |
We agree! The Google Search engine has been made
available on the Yale Home page and the Yale Info page at www.yale.edu/yaleinfo. |
Implemented in April 2004. |
Why not allow the purchasing card
to buy air and rail tickets?
|
We agree! This can now be done. Departments
should contact Procurement to add this capability to Pcards.
|
Implemented in March 2004. |
Why not have Yale’s parking
police use more fuel efficient cars?
|
We agree! High fuel efficiency will
be a requirement the next time this unit buys a vehicle.
|
Done. Next car will be as efficient
as possible. |
| Why not have all the blue phones have clear blue
lights that are always lit so you can identify where the blue
phones are on a given street? |
We agree! The Security Department is now inspecting
blue phones on a weekly basis and compiling a list of required
repairs to be implemented by Facilities Operations. If you know
of a specific blue phone that is in disrepair please call 2-6888
to report it. |
Implemented in Spring 2004. |
| Why not require the transit company that provides
the various Yale bus services to use electric buses, or other
alternative fuel vehicles? |
We agree! We’ve begun using very low sulfur
diesel fuel for the shuttle buses, and we’re conducting
a pilot program this summer to assess how well new filtering
systems could work. We’re also planning to bring in high
fuel efficiency vehicles and hybrids as we replace vehicles. |
Implemented 2004. |
| Why not establish one price for a standard computer
from Dell for University purchases? |
We agree! We now have three standard configurations
for Dell laptops that will result in an additional 10-19% discount.
See "Latest Good Deals" on the Procurement
web site. |
Implemented 2004. |
| Why not buy generic paper and save money? |
We agree! We recommend using recycled copy paper
from Corporate Express: Domtar #DPP4404 for $20.50/case. This
is a terrific deal as a result of our Strategic Vendor Contract
with this vendor. The cost for recycled paper is only $1.50
more than virgin paper at $19.00/case which is also a great
deal. Go to the Green
Purchasing site to learn more about Green Purchasing initiatives.
Order from Corporate Express via the Yale ePortal. |
Implemented 2004. |
| Why not allow administrators to have signing
authority for some requests perhaps by setting limits for authority? |
We agree! The "Distributed Authority Program
for ERs and CRs" permits that the Approver takes full responsibility
for ERs and CRs for $2000 and under that are within the scope
of the program. To learn more about this program, go to the
Distributed
Authority presentation. Visit XTrain
to sign up for training. |
