The WhyNot.net/yale website,
originally launched to collect ideas and comments from all corners
of the Yale community to provide valuable input to our Administrative
Services and Support Enhancement Team (ASSET) initiatives, entered
a new phase of service to the University on June 14, 2004.
In its first four months of operation, WhyNot.net/yale
was highly successful, with over 150 ideas, hundreds of comments
and over 1200 votes posted to the site. ASSET teams used these inputs
in the development of plans for savings initiatives and service
enhancements and they will continue to be used for months to come
as a rich base of creativity and feedback.
With the ASSET teams completing their recommendations
and the FY05 improvement projects getting underway, the site has
been reoriented as a continuing University-wide suggestion box and
discussion forum – an interactive link between faculty, students
and staff and our institutional units striving to serve them. This
reorientation involved the following changes:
- WhyNot.net/yale
now has slightly modified topic categories that are directly associated
with Yale institutional units (e.g. ITS, Student and Dining Services,
Training and Professional Development). Managers from these units
will be visiting WhyNot.net/yale on a regular basis and they will
make sure the ideas and comments posted there receive timely replies
and follow-up attention.
- All ideas, comments and votes posted to the WhyNot.net/yale
site will remain on the WhyNot.net/yale site (in some cases reassigned
to a more fitting category). Unit managers and/or ASSET teams
will periodically update the status of these items so that all
interested can view their current status.
- The ASSET voice mailbox (43A-SSET or 432-7738)
and the email address (asset@yale.edu)
will continue in use.
- The ASSET website (www.yale.edu/asset)
will continue to provide progress reports and breaking headlines
regarding ongoing initiatives to improve how the University does
business, as well as links to other sites including progress reports
on specific initiatives.
We hope members of the Yale community will find these
changes helpful in not only monitoring the status of input items
submitted during the first half of 2004 but also in communicating
directly with institutional service providers on an ongoing basis.
Please feel free to contact us with any additional suggestions or
comments (asset@yale.edu).
