Harold C. Conklin, Professor Emeritus in Anthropology (Ph.D. Yale University, 1955).

First educated in public schools on eastern Long Island, Hal Conklin did his undergraduate and graduate work at the University of California, Berkeley, and Yale University, respectively. Since then, he has been on the anthropological faculties at both Columbia (1954-1962) and Yale (1962-present), where he is now an emeritus professor. Professor Conklin's professional work has focused primarily on ethnology, ecology, and linguistics. Since World War II, Conklin has concentrated his research in insular southeast Asia; his principal field sites have been on Mindoro (the Hanunóo) and Luzon (the Ifugao) in the Philippines.
