Richard G. Bribiescas

Richard G. Bribiescas (Ph.D., Harvard 1997) is an Associate Professor of Anthropology and Director of the Reproductive Ecology Laboratory. Prior to accepting his present position, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Reproductive Endocrine Unit. His primary interests are in human evolutionary physiology, specifically human and non-human primate reproductive ecology, endocrinology, and life history theory. His most notable work is on male reproductive ecology, specifically the role of testosterone and other hormones in regulating life history trade offs. He has conducted field research among Ache hunter/gatherers of Paraguay as well as among populations in Venezuela and Japan. He was recently awarded a Woodrow Wilson Faculty Research Fellowship during which he wrote his forthcoming book from Harvard University Press, Men as Mammals: The Evolution and Life History of the Human Male. Current courses taught by Professor Bribiescas include Introduction to Biological Anthropology, Human Physiology and Life History, Reproductive Ecology of Humans and Non-human Primates, as well as Behavioral Endocrinology.
