The letters reveal Stalinís close personal relationship to Molotov and illuminate the power struggles within Soviet leadership at the time, while providing a unique psychological profile of Stalin as he thought through matters of foreign policy, collectivization and industrialization, and the destruction of his enemies in the party-state leadership.

Editors: Lars Lih, independent scholar; Oleg Naumov, Deputy Director, RGASPI; Oleg V. Khlevniuk, historian and editor of the journal Free Thought.
