Finding Your Ethernet Hardware Address: Windows 98 & Me
To determine the EHA of your computer running Windows 98 or Me, please follow the steps below. If you need further assistance, please request help from a Student Tech.
-
Choose Run from the Start menu. Type "winipcfg" and click OK.
-
An IP Configuration window will appear. Click on the white menu bar near the top of the window and select the Ethernet card that you are
trying to find the EHA for. Note: PPP Adapter is not an Ethernet card. There should be a box next to
Adapter Address that contains twelve hexadecimal characters separated into pairs by dashes. If "Fatal Error: Cannot
determine IP configuration" is reported, your TCP/IP protocol is not properly configured.
Please request help from a Student Tech.
- Write down your Ethernet Hardware Address exactly as you see it on your screen. EHAs use only hexadecimal characters: they only contain the letters A through F and the numerals 0 through 9.
