We must recognize that the roads and streets and alleys and trails can no longer be identified solely with movement from one place to another. Increasingly they are the scene of work and leisure and social intercourse and excitement. Indeed they have ofte n become the last resort for privacy and solitude and contact with nature. Roads no longer merely lead to places; they are places.
