Deborah Thomas

Deborah Thomas, Ph.D., Brown University, is a Lecturer in African American Studies. Her teaching and research interests are in the areas of African American and American history and literature, with a special interest in women’s organizations and in historical fiction. She teaches courses on the history of African American women; American and African American literature, beginning with the slave narrative; African Americans and Reform; Adoption and the American Family; and historical fiction and African American literature. Currently she teaches the Junior Seminar and Senior Colloquium in the African American Studies. She is at work on project entitled Intersecting Lives: African Americans and Reform in America, based on a lecture given at the Oxford University Roundtable, Oxford, England.
