Downtown New Haven was recently described as "a vibrant neighborhood of shops, theaters, and restaurants" by The New York Times and “a fashion and cultural mecca” by Women's Wear Daily. With over 100 specialty boutiques within walking distance of the campus, New Haven is a true shopping destination where hip meets traditional and New England meets New York.
Within New Haven's three successful shopping districts – Broadway, Chapel, and Audubon – independent retailers like Sogno Boutique, Wish List, and Laila Rowe are neighbors with J. Crew, Urban Outfitters (the only one in CT!) and Barnes & Noble. New Haven is also the home of the first Ann Taylor and J. Press.
Due to the University's redevelopment efforts as well as the City's, New Haven's retail and restaurant community is growing tremendously. Whatever your fancy, from international designers to local talents, New Haven stores have it and offer a warm welcome to all incoming students and new residents who will make New Haven their home!
