Extracurriculars

From the Yale Daily News, the country's oldest daily college newspaper, to the Yale University Football Team, first collegiate football team to ever reach 800 wins, there is no shortage of extracurricular activities at Yale.

In order to get a sense of the vast array of activities available at Yale, you might wish to be guided through a "typical" Yale weekend. Plan your weekend using the Yale Daily News as your primary resource—"The Scene," a weekend supplement that appears every Friday, outlines the top activities, performances, and other interesting events on campus. A journey to Off-Broadway Theater or one of the many recital halls would lead you to one of Yale's many theatrical productions or dance performances. You might choose to enjoy the harmonics of the Yale Student Orchestra, student bands, one of the 12 a cappella groups, or the over 40 choruses on campus.

Your next day might be spent at one of Yale's many athletic fields or facilities cheering on one of the over 45 Varsity or Junior Varsity teams. After an athletic afternoon you might wish to attend or even organize a Master's Tea at which celebrities and world-renowned figures converse with interested students.

Although the weekend offers a prime opportunity to participate in Yale's extracurricular life, the week does not lack its own share of engrossing activities. While students reserve time for academic work, organizations such as student government, publications, a cappella groups, and many others meet throughout the week. Whether you enjoy a quiet evening at one of Yale's Art Museums, a fabulous dance party, a thrilling sporting event, or a moving theatrical performance, the talent of the student body is on constant display wherever you go.
