Update on Yale's Car Pool Program - The car pool program announced in October 2005 has been very well received.  Participants are saving money in fuel and parking rates, which in turn contributes to the improvement of local air quality reduces traffic congestion in New Haven, an decreases demand for parking on campus. Yale Travel Announces Improvements - There are a number of recent improvements to travel services at Yale.  Orbitz for business is available to all Yale travelers who use a credit card to book travel.  It provides a simple, cost-effective way to travel, and offers travelers the option of booking on-line or (more . . . )

Orange Shuttle Line Expansion - Parking and Transit announce that they have expanded the Orange Line effective Monday, March 27th.  Service now extends further north into the East Rock neighborhood and connects at the School of Nursing, School of Medicine and Union Station.  The service will be running on a more frequent basis until 8 p.m. each evening.  For more information, please go to the Transit Department website at www.yale.edu/shuttle

Transit Department Announces "Blue Line" - Don Relihan, Director of Support Services, in conjunction with the Yale College Council, recently announced the roll-out of a new shuttle route called the "Blue Line."  This new shuttle service operates seven nights a week from 8:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. with stops every 15 minutes.  It travels to each of the 12 residential colleges and several off-campus locations at Chapel Street, Howe Avenue and Edgewood. Best Practices Initiative Gains Momentum - The University and Local 34 and Local 35 have been making progress on joint labor-management committees in departments. These committees are working on projects that will improve productivity, customer service, and employee satisfaction. New Nighttime Shuttle Minibus Service - The University has made significant improvements to its nighttime shuttle or "minibus" service.  The service currently offers safe, free and convenient transportation to the Yale community seven days a week, year round. In addition to scheduled routes around campus, door-to-door service is available on request between 6:00 PM and 1:00 AM within a large zone. Incentives for Carpooling

The University has recently announced a new program for carpooling. Providing incentives for carpooling is the first of many ideas the University is exploring to reduce the community's reliance on single-occupancy vehicles.  Participants in the program will save money on fuel and parking rates, contribute to the improvement of local air quality, reduce traffic congestion in New Haven, decrease demand for parking on campus, and enjoy better commuting options.  Full details of the program, which include lower parking fees, a “guaranteed ride home” feature and free parking passes, are available at http://www.yale.edu/parkingandtransit/alternatives.
