Parker Named New Sustainable Transportation Director

(May 14, 2007) Janet Lindner is pleased to announce the appointment of Holly Parker as Director of Sustainable Transportation Systems. Holly's new role will focus on identifying opportunities for university staff, faculty and students to engage in more environmentally-friendly modes of transportation.

Holly has been an advocate and manager of alternative transportation programs for the past ten years. Prior to her appointment at Yale, Holly managed Harvard University's sustainable transportation program for six years, with responsibility for the development, marketing, and implementation of programs that encouraged Harvard employees to use alternatives to drive-alone commuting. Holly led projects that resulted in an online transit pass ordering system and a solar-powered bicycle parking facility on campus. Under her guidance, the university improved transportation choices that included outfitting shuttles with bike racks, increasing car-share membership, introducing a new rideshare-matching system customized for the university's needs, and establishing a bicycle program. Holly's prior experience includes working for the Commuter Solutions Program at Lane Transit District in Eugene, Oregon, and as a senior transportation coordinator for TransAction Associates in Waltham, MA.

Holly's responsibilities at Yale will include working with the campus community and regional partners to increase the availability and use of alternative modes of transportation, and developing data-driven transit supply and demand forecasts to help achieve our university-wide greenhouse gas reduction goals.

Holly will report to Director of Support Services Don Relihan, and she will also work closely with University Planning, the Office of Sustainability, and the Parking & Transit staff.
