Review Questions for Final Exam

  1. Defend one of the following propositions:
    • The Reformation enhanced religion in the West
    • The Reformation was the first giant leap made in the West towards a secular, less religious culture.

  2. Finish reading McGrath, Ozment, and Jensen. What do each of them conclude about the impact of the Reformation? What, according to these historians, is the relationship between the theology of the Reformers, changes in religious practice, and changes that took place in European society at this time? Do these three historians agree? Disagree?

  3. Review the study questions you received each week, including the ones from the first half of the semester. Make sure you can answer them on the final, and come to class ready to ask about the ones you cannot answer.

  4. Look over the syllabus to review what we have read since the mid-term (including Calvin). What are the main points of each document we read? Are you ready to identify and analyze passages from each of them?

  5. Use the list of terms to prepare for the exam. Come to discussion section this week prepared to ask about the ones you are not sure about. Remember to consult the glossary in the back of McGrath.
