Dr. Hanan Ashrawi is an internationally recognized spokesperson for the Palestinian nationalist cause and one of the most prominent Middle East peace advocates. The former Minister of Education, she is currently a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, as well as the executive director of the Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy. Ever since an April 1988 Israeli-Palestinian debate on ABC's Nightline when she shot to the spotlight of Middle East politics, Dr. Ashrawi has been immensely popular both in the Middle East and abroad. She is often credited with having played a crucial role in arranging a series of secret, behind-the-scenes talks between the PLO and Israel, the most prominent of which were the series of meetings that led to the drafting of the Oslo Accords. Her most recent book is “This Side of Peace.”

His Excellency Uri Savir is currently a member of the Center Party in the Israeli Knesset. He is also the President of the Peres Center for Peace, and is the former Director General of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Savir was Israel’s chief negotiator for the Oslo Accords. He has also worked as a negotiator during the Wye Plantation talks with Syria, and was involved in negotiations during the opening session of the final status talks with the Palestinian Authority. Mr. Savir wrote “The Process: 1100 Days that Changed the Middle East” as a reflection on his experience as Israel’s top negotiator during Oslo.

Maryam Elahi

Ms. Elahi is the Direction of the Human Rights Program at Trinity College in Hartford, CT. She was a leading force behind the establishment of the Human Rights Program at Trinity in August 1998 and became its first Director in April 1999. Ms. Elahi was formerly with Amnesty International (AI) for eight and a half years, over seven of which she worked as the Advocacy Director for the Middle East, North Africa and Europe in the Washington DC Office of AI. Prior to her tenure with Amnesty International, she worked with the Lawyers Committee for Human Rights in New York.

Yonah Alexander

Professor Alexander is the director of the Terrorism Studies Program at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
