Elected Alumni Fellow in 2006, Margaret Warner is a senior correspondent and on-air anchor on public television’s The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer. She is also the lead correspondent for The NewsHour’s overseas reporting unit, which has taken her recently to Iran, Turkey, Venezuela, Sudan, France, Pakistan, Kenya, China, United Kingdom, Afghanistan, and Russia. In 2008 Ms. Warner won an Emmy Award for her coverage of the turmoil in Pakistan and an Edward Weintal Prize for International Reporting from Georgetown University's Institute for the Study of Diplomacy for her overseas reporting. She joined The NewsHour in 1993 after a career in print journalism. She spent a decade at Newsweek as political and campaign correspondent, White House reporter, and chief diplomatic correspondent. She previously reported for The Wall Street Journal, The San Diego Union, and The Concord [N.H.] Monitor. Ms. Warner is a trustee of the Virginia Foundation for Independent Colleges and belongs to the Council on Foreign Relations. At Yale she serves on the President’s Council on International Activities.
