Elected Alumni Fellow in 2002, Maya Lin divides her time equally between art and architecture. In 1981 she designed the acclaimed Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the Mall in Washington, D.C. A graduate of Yale College, she returned to Yale to complete a Master of Architecture degree in 1986. She established her own studio in New York City and has gone on to create artworks, memorials, and architectural projects that have gained her an international reputation. Ms. Lin’s artwork is represented by Gagosian Gallery in New York City. She is a board member of the Natural Resources Defense Council and has served on the board of the Energy Foundation. She has also served on the boards of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Teaching Tolerance Project and the Kennedy Museum of Art at Ohio University, and on the advisory panel of the Studio in a School in New York.
