Who We Are and What We Do

The Special Events Co-Coordinators, Alex Liu (TC '12) and Shahla Naimi (TC '12), work to organize events on campus from film festivals to panel discussions, bringing together participants from the Asian American community both at Yale and beyond New Haven.

Sample of Special Events

Asian American Arts Festival: This year's festival with the theme CHIASMA: Where Asian Meet Asian American, will feature work from both students as well as professional artists in the Davenport Gallery from Feb. 5- Feb.11. CHIASMA will open with acclaimed performing artist Kristina Wong, and her presentation of "Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest," on Feb. 5 at 7.30pm in the Davenport Auditorium. Her show explores her personal experience of reconciling her identity of being a woman, an Asian, and dealing with issues of mental health. The Festival will close with remarks from Jaishri Abichandani and her experience as a South Asian artist and her advocacy efforts for South Asian artists in New York.
