Paris
School District

The Paris School District
is located in the Arkansas River Valley
– a rural community located at the
base of Mount Magazine, the highest point
in Mid-America. In the fall of 2002, the
district joined the Arkansas 21C Network
to better serve families within the 233
square mile picturesque hill setting.
High quality, developmentally
appropriate, full day programs serve the
birth to four year old children. Staff
members utilize research-based practices
to enhance early learning experiences.
A nurturing environment provides the foundation
for on-going cognitive as well as affective
development.
The pre-school program includes
two classes that are housed at Paris Elementary.
The University of the Ozarks utilizes
this class setting as an observation and
student teaching site for students.

The Paris District has been
nationally recognized for its efforts
in the Coordinated School Health Programs
Initiative (Centers for Disease Control
– Division of Adolescent School
Health). The eight components of this
research-based initiative involve health
education, health services, community
involvement, nutrition/food services,
healthy school environment, physical education,
counseling/psychological/social services,
and faculty/staff wellness. Every effort
is made to meet the needs of student and
families to ensure basic services are
provided.
The school-based human services
worker works with school personnel and
community agencies to access high quality
services for families. Her role within
the 21C is critical for service delivery.
An after-school program
is offered for school-aged children at
Paris Elementary.
