An Initiative From:

Fayetteville School District

Owl Creek Elementary

(formerly Jefferson School)

Owl Creek School is a positive community that encourages growth of the total person through high expectations for achieving our fullest potential as 21st Century learners.  We are Fayetteville’s first campus to serve students pre-k through 7th grade.  Our state-of-the- art facility has every resource to support the technology-based instruction that will enable students to develop the skills necessary to be successful in an ever-changing global society.

Our school enjoys diversity of culture, ethnicity, and socio-economic backgrounds.  As we did in our former Jefferson School community, we continue to serve children from several low-income housing projects and shelters.  In addition, we have the increased capacity to serve students in need of special services and we now house the district’s elementary deaf and hearing-impaired program.

Owl Creek School has a dedicated faculty and staff, who work to provide programs that help maximize the educational experience for all our students. Owl Creek School also has a full time social worker on staff to provide services to our families year round.    Our faculty and staff partner with the families of our students to assure that learning does not end with the school day.  We currently reach out to our parents by providing learning and parenting workshops, family activity nights, and parent/teacher conferences. Our school also enjoys an active and involved PTO.

One unique service that Owl Creek School provides is a summer reading program.  Each week, our Magic Book an visits local housing projects and our local Boys and Girls Club to provide a story time and offer books to be read at home and returned the next week.

Owl Creek provides before and after-school care for our families.  We also have two pre-kindergarten classrooms where we provide foundational skills for at-risk students in our district.  Both pre-k classrooms receive funding from the Arkansas Better Chance for School Success program, the state’s pre-k funding for at-risk children.

The Pre-k @ Owl Creek provides a high quality program with developmentally appropriate educational activities as well as many enriching experiences including various field trips to local points of interest.  We partner with the Northwest Arkansas Educational Service Co-op and Ozark Guidance Center to address any special needs of our pre-k students.
