An Initiative From:

Hot Springs School District

Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School is one of four elementary schools in the Hot Springs School District.  Located at 301 Oaklawn Boulevard, there are approximately 725 students K-5.

The school is the recipient of the Magnet Schools of America Distinction Award for 2005 and the Magnet School of America Glenn Hendricks Award 2004.

Students are drawn to this school for its academic rigor and focus on the visual and performing arts.

Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts is a school of the 21st Century by providing services and programs such as before and after school care, 21CCLC, health education, guidance and support for parents as well as information and referral services for parents.

Parent nights are held monthly at the school.  Guest speakers or programs of interests are provided with dinner and childcare.

Playgroups are formed and meetings are held once a month for the three and four year old siblings of Oaklawn K-3 students.  The purpose of this group is to better prepare the in-coming Kindergarten students for a smooth transition into the next school year.

The goal of the Oaklawn staff is to provide a school that is truly a family resource center for each family with a student enrolled at Oaklawn Visual & Performing Arts Magnet School.  It is the desire of the administration and faculty to assist families and to meet their needs.
