An Initiative From:

Hamburg School District

The Hamburg School District’s mission is to provide the optimal development of all children through both traditional education and high quality child care services.

Hamburg provides a developmental prekindergarten program designed to have all children ready to learn by the time they enter school.

It provides before- and after-school care for elementary children from 6:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Vacation and summer care are offered when school is not open.

Tutoring and enrichment activities are provided for children during the school year. An enrichment program is held each summer.

Guidance counselors, mentors, school nurses, a social worker and a violence and drug prevention counselor are available to aid families with support and referrals. HIPPY gives support for new parents. Parenting classes are also available.

The nutritional center provides a free breakfast for all elementary students in the district. A free breakfast/lunch program is available to all children in Hamburg during the summer.

The goals of the Hamburg School District are:

  • To reduce the stress of starting school by having the children ready to learn by the time they enter kindergarten.
  • To decrease stress on parents for the safety and well being of their children while they are at work and home.
  • To decrease stressful influences in children’s lives.
  • To provide an array of services readily accessible to families and the community.
