An Initiative From:

Arkadelphia Public School District serves approximately 2,000 students grades Pre-K through 12 grade. The schools website has links to each of the five schools in the district. Each school site has information available on staffing, school calendars, newsletters, and special programs.

The “Prime Time” program is an extended school-day and vacation care program for grades Pre-K through 6th.. During the school year, extended school-days run from 3 to 5:30 p.m. with care provided from noon to 5:30 on early out days. A eight week summer enrichment program is available when school is not in session from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Arkadelphia Public School’s Pre-K program includes 24classrooms of twenty children. These children are included in all of Perritt Primary School’s activities including computer lab, music, and physical education. Each spring Henderson State University, in collaboration with Arkadelphia Public Schools, hosts the “Kindergarten Round-Up which provides enrollment in kindergarten, free physicals and assessments.

Guidance and support for parents is provided by the Community Family Enrichment Center with family support services, extended education programs, and community enhancement services. The Arkadelphia Parents as Teachers Program reaches out to families with pre-school children from birth up to age 3 with monthly home visits from trained parent educators.

Please see Arkadelphia's website for more information on their program.

The Ross Foundation is the major funder of the Early Childhood Initiative.
